This marbling decorating technique is really fun and gives instant results. It's perfect for making marbled pumpkin cookies. What's also great, is that you only need one consistency of royal icing. Color and thin royal icing to 10-15 second consistency. Onto a piece of food wrap or cling wrap pipe layers of royal icing (steps 1-8).

Combine shortening and brown sugar in a second large bowl. Beat using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 1 minute. Add pumpkin, egg, and vanilla extract; mix well until combined. Add 1/2 of the flour mixture and mix well. Add remaining flour mixture and mix again. Scoop tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.

Separate about a cup and make the light brown color, described above. And then bag about 1/2 cup that you'll use for your whipped cream.
