La Casa del Criptoportico è situata in una delle are più trafficate di Pompei, lungo via dell'Abbondanza e non molto lontana dal foro. L'edificio fu rinvenuto all'inizio del Ventesimo secolo e gli scavi vennero inizialmente condotti da Vittorio Spinazzola tra il 1911 ed il 1919 per esser poi completati da Amedeo Maiuri nel 1927-1929.
